Vale John Cain

Melbourne & Olympic Parks (the Trust) is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Victorian Premier, John Cain.

Monday 23 December, 2019

As Premier between March 1976 and August 1992, it was John Cain who brought the long-held vision of successive Victorian Governments to life when he opened the National Tennis Centre in 1988 – the foundation stone for what became the Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct.

The creation of the precinct was just one of John Cain’s many achievements during a political career that helped shape the future of Victoria.

While he will be sorely missed by everyone involved at the Trust, his enduring legacy means that he will never be forgotten.

The Trust extends its condolences to John’s wife Nancye and the entire Cain family during this difficult time.
