On Saturday 18 October, John Cain Arena will host two powerhouse clubs as the Flyers take on the Capitals to launch WNBL26. From witnessing Opals star Cayla George lighting up the court, to Jade Melbourne’s return to the WNBL after a standout WNBA season, there will be nothing but unmissable moments right from tip-off.

The Jayco Southside Melbourne Flyers are one of the premier teams in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL), proudly representing Melbourne’s southeast. Formed in 2019, the Flyers have quickly established themselves as a powerhouse of Australian women’s basketball. With strong community ties and a commitment to growing the game, they continue to inspire the next generation of players and fans.
Led by head coach Kristi Harrower, the Flyers play their home games at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South. The team captured the 2024 WNBL Championship and remains a consistent finals contender.
