Formed in 2007 through a merger between the Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne Kestrels, the Melbourne Vixens have gone on to become one of Australia’s most successful domestic netball teams.
The team plays its home matches on-precinct at Melbourne & Olympic Parks, having called John Cain Arena home since 2008.
Between 2008 and 2016, the Vixens played in the Trans-Tasman ANZ Championship, winning premierships in 2009 and 2014. From 2017 the team joined the newly-formed Suncorp Super Netball competition, a national domestic league, and took out the premiership in 2020.
The club is renowned for having developed some of Australia’s top netball talent, including Sharelle McMahon and Bianca Chatfield.
