Legendary drummer and co-founder of the Hong Kong rock band BEYOND, Yip Sai Wing, brings his ‘YOU & ME’ World Tour to Melbourne this May.
Celebrating the legacy of one of the most influential rock bands in the Chinese-speaking world, the tour will visit Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Saturday 17 May. These concerts mark Yip Sai Wing’s debut in Australia, where he will perform iconic BEYOND songs, recreating nostalgic moments with fans.
The theme “YOU & ME” draws inspiration from redefining and reigniting the spontaneity of rock music. Rock legend Yip Sai Wing will perform BEYOND’s timeless classics with fresh and dynamic rearrangements, injecting new vitality into each song. Enhanced by sophisticated stage design and state-of-the-art sound and light effects, the tour has received an overwhelming response since its launch in 2022.
Despite disbanding over two decades ago, BEYOND’s influence remains undiminished, cementing their status as Hong Kong’s most legendary rock band. Fans can expect a powerful retrospective that revisits youthful dreams and celebrates decades of music that has shaped and inspired multiple generations.

Yip Sai Wing is a Hong Kong musician best known as the drummer and co-founder of the legendary rock band BEYOND. Formed in 1983, BEYOND became one of the most influential and enduring rock bands in Chinese music history, blending Western rock influences with poignant Cantonese lyrics. Yip’s powerful yet precise drumming played a crucial role in shaping the band’s signature sound, contributing to iconic songs like “Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies” and “Glorious Years.” BEYOND’s music resonated deeply with fans across Asia, carrying themes of hope, perseverance, and social consciousness.
Following the tragic passing of lead singer Wong Ka Kui in 1993, Yip continued performing with BEYOND until their official disbandment in 2005. He later pursued a solo career, releasing albums that showcased his evolving musical style while staying true to his rock roots. Beyond music, Yip has also ventured into production and collaboration with various artists, cementing his legacy as a key figure in Hong Kong’s rock scene. His influence remains strong, with generations of fans and musicians drawing inspiration from his work.
