About John Cain

John Cain (April, 1931 - December, 2019) was the 41st Premier of Victoria.

He was the Labor Party's longest-serving premier (1982-1990) and his vision to develop the National Tennis Centre in 1988 laid the foundations for the precinct, which would go on to become Melbourne and Olympic Parks.

The vision helped shaped Melbourne as Australia’s home of sport and entertainment, securing the Australian Open in Melbourne for generations to come.
